The VCHSS has an author in it's midst who's been cranking out some fascinating
articles for
those
lucky enough to be on his mailing list.
In the interest of providing some
excellent entertainment to the members, we've added some sections in the
"NEWS" area enabling visitors to get a glimpse of the mind putting
this stuff together. Take a look at it - we think you'll find it some
interesting reading! You'll find it under the heading of "Tweety Bird
Chronicles".
Riders Packet...... As you know, a lot of work goes
on behind the
scenes to put a racing
season together - a million things have to come together to make the series happen in a coordinated
manner. We compile the results of all those efforts in a riders packet which
gets mailed to VCHSS members. The
riders packet for 2001 hasn't been assembled yet, but will be mailed to all riders
in the near future. Once it's available, you'll be able to pull
it
down right here on the web.
There's a service
available for VCHSS members (or anyone who wants to participate) - a simple way to stay in contact with other
riders,
by posting messages to a mailing list. The only thing you need to do to subscribe to the
service is to <click here> and include the word
"subscribe" (quotes not required) in the first line of the message. If you want
additional information or receive an error message, you should <click
here> to visit the web
page
discussing how the mailing list works. You can also <click
here> to contact the
person running the mailing list if you have further questions.
For those not familiar with the VCHSS, we're dedicated to providing amateur off road motorcycle riders with safe, family oriented competition throughout Virginia. This series is one of the oldest amateur motorcycle racing series in the state, hosting events on some of the most scenic property anywhere in the United States.
An important part of the VCHSS is developing the sportsmanship, skills and
confidence of the younger generation through participation in a safe, competitive
environment. The "Horizon Rider" program is intend to foster healthy
competition, and above all, safe
fun for the adults of tomorrow. In the Horizon Rider
class (Junior Mini and PeeWee), you'll find youngsters ranging from about 5
years old, up to those about to make the jump into the Mini and Super Mini classes.
The VCHSS Horizon Class is a GREAT vehicle for getting the tykes accustomed to
motorcycles. If you've got a son or daughter who's been wanting to get involved in an
active outdoor sport - this class is a sure winner for the youngsters!
Membership in the VCHSS costs $5.00 per year, and everyone who competes in the series is required to join the series. Membership fees go towards administering the series and providing award packages to those attending the end of year banquet. Memberships are available at all events.
The 1999 series consists of 15 events, scattered throughout Virginia (including one event in Maryland). Of these, 12 events will be used for calculating the riders final class standings.
